And much more: the list can be extended by any school principal.

Now it looks like this: a fire safety inspection comes, the inspector issues instructions to eliminate the shortcomings – about a dozen and a half positions.

We can perform several of these positions on our own (there is no fire extinguisher hanging, no inscription on the hydrant, the next light bulb has burned out, etc.).

But the vast majority of instructions can not be fulfilled: because it requires funds.

I don’t write an lab report for you know who – I immediately write a letter to the department, where I list the instructions of firefighters, for the implementation of which funds are needed.

The management puts these letters of directors in a separate folder to then see what to put in the budget for next year.

Something is being done: for example, electrical networks have been tested, and fire extinguishers are regularly refueled at the expense of the budget. But most resource-intensive firefighting measures are not implemented due to lack of funds.

That is – the centralized budget does not give money for fire safety in full, to ask for it considerable money from parents – it is illegal.

Impasse?

No, there is a way out.

The first step is the target program of local authorities "Child Safety". In local budgets, a separate line in the "Education" section should include funding for child safety measures. And this money should be a reinforced concrete article.

But even with a targeted program and money to implement it, it will be extremely difficult to do under the current funding system.

So far, with a clumsy system of centralized accounting, we cannot use the funds properly. One centralized accounting department and one tender department do not have time to physically process all applications from schools for a variety of purchases. Because the normal life of the school needs a LOT of everything. Often – in very small quantities.

Therefore – the second step is absolutely necessary – financial autonomy of educational institutions. This is exactly the approach enshrined in the new law "On Education", which is awaiting the president’s signature.

The school, together with the parents, must decide for itself what needs and how to direct budget funds. And the issue of child safety is an absolute priority here.

It is clear that targeted funds for child safety should be used only for their intended purpose.

At the beginning of this school year, I publicly asked the mayor of Kyiv to urgently develop and implement the transition of educational institutions (where there is such a request) to their own accounts, under the conditions of a certain financial autonomy.

Mr. Klitschko instructed to develop such a provision. I hope this assignment will be fulfilled soon.

Meanwhile, on Sunday evening, September 17, the Kyiv mayor issued an order to conduct unscheduled fire safety inspections in all educational institutions in Kyiv.

And now I remember the pride with which I, a 12-year-old boy, gave my mother a loaf of bread and milk that I bought at home. And I remember my mother’s tears, with which she received from her son this small, really small contribution to the family purse.

Then working in the garden became almost commonplace: without straining, he earned 35-40 rubles for the summer (which for the child and family was not extra money – the mother-engineer then received somewhere 90-95 rubles).

Then, just before graduation, when he turned 16, he delivered telegrams to the post office, learned to work on a telegraph machine: it was then that he mastered the keyboard, which helped me a lot in later life.

For years there has been an intense discussion about education in society and in the professional environment, different concepts and approaches collide.

In the end, there is a compromise, the concept of "New Ukrainian School" is created, the important provisions of which have already been fixed by the new Law "On Education".

The law, of course, is not perfect – and it cannot be perfect, it cannot suit everyone: because the industry is very complex. But it is a certain point of social balance, a framework document that needs to be filled with further work.

But the Messiah will not read what has been discussed before him for years – it is boring and uninteresting: it is necessary to think and work on understanding.

It is much easier to jump out, like Philip from hemp, with slogans like "Ukrainian education is bad, we need common happiness."

So with this thesis for a long time no one, except the expressive scoop, and does not argue: because the problems in our education – a huge number. And the understanding of these problems has already been embodied in a number of important decisions at the level of society and the state.

And it is not sad that the "writers" do not like mental work, it is sad that this populist messianism for some reason (?) Finds support: and repost empty posts, and enthusiastically discuss theses at the level of "we need to live better. "

And the saddest thing is that even those who should better understand the complexity and system of educational problems, propose new approaches and develop them than the average citizen, also demonstrate a clear messianism, which is not to see and not want to see perfectly clear things … …

This is exactly the case when the "best teacher of Ukraine" repeats the outright delusion that "knowledge is not needed."

Oh, we are still far from quality education with such messianic marches.

Do all teachers meet their qualifications and can each of them be trusted with children?

Here I was reproached (not for the first time, by the way) that I treat some "colleagues" without due respect.

I accept as a fact. I really can’t respect some "colleagues". I will emphasize – some.

Because I understand well the complexity of our profession and I appreciate real professionals, of which there are many at school.

But I’m tired of hearing reproaches that I don’t bow in homage to everyone who has a workbook at school.

Let’s reject sarcasm and aggressive attacks. Let’s be honest.

I ask those who reproach me to give an honest answer: do all teachers meet their qualifications? Can each of them be trusted with children? Do each of them have sufficient skills to work with information: search, critical evaluation of sources, filtering, analytics, etc.? Does everyone have modern techniques? Can everyone be compared to children in mastering modern means of working with information? Don’t each of them shout at the children? I can still continue …

If the answer to these questions is "yes" – this is exactly a fictional world.

And if "no" – then what am I wrong?

That I do not squat in curtsies in front of SOME hopelessly backward "colleagues"?

Well, I’m sorry, I’ll have to get used to the conversation without false piety …

Because respect is not given an automatic bonus to the position: it should be earned by constant work on yourself and self-improvement.

This post is primarily for new members of the SOS Parents group.

I have already written on this topic. The last time was when there were about 10,000 members in the group. Now there are almost 55 thousand of them. And you need to write about it regularly.

The number of group members is growing – and there is a noticeable trend: those who are in the group recently, immediately take the position of "all teachers are to blame." Such a "presumption of guilt of the teacher."

Those who have been in the group for a long time and have read many discussions about school (more broadly – educational) life, already understand that not everything is so clear, that different people work in education, that cases are different, that parents and children are also not ideal.

Therefore – it is not superfluous to repeat.

I’ll start with the main thing: cases of mental or physical violence against children by inadequate "teachers", unfortunately, enough, that’s a fact. And my own reaction of the school principal to such things is always irreconcilable: I will not let the child be offended.

But first – I find out what really happened, I listen to everyone who can tell about the event.

It’s sad to read the comments of people who are "found guilty" without even making the slightest attempt to listen to the other party.

Because there are enough cases of inappropriate behavior of some parents, who arrange disgusting scandals in schools and kindergartens, without even bothering to listen to the teacher or educator.

Because, whether someone likes it or not, I can say for sure that sometimes children don’t tell what really happened. Because children. Because they are looking for excuses for "twos". Because they want to draw attention to themselves.
